Raymond W. Montgomery, 90, lifelong Atchison resident, passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Montgomery has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Croix Hospice or Atchison First Christian Church and may be sent to the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is entrusted with Mr. Montgomery’s funeral arrangements. Raymond was born on February 18, 1928 in Atchison, the son of Raymond K. and Edna L. (Knapp) Montgomery. Raymond graduated from Atchison High School in 1946. Raymond had worked most of his life in the roofing trade, having worked many years for Allied Materials & Equipment Co in Kansas City, MO. Raymond was a member the Atchison First Christian Church; Atchison Kiwanis Club for over 25 years, having served a term as President; and the Atchison Masonic Lodge. Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, KU Basketball and singing with the Atchison Rivermen. Raymond especially loved his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Raymond married Patricia A. Hofacre on July 13, 1946 in Kansas City, KS.

Survivors include Raymond’s wife of 72 years, Patricia; their children, Peggy A. Montgomery (Gary) Wohlgemuth, Raymond W. (Rebecca) Montgomery II, Robert G. (Mary Jane) Montgomery and Elizabeth L. Montgomery; brother, Michael E. Montgomery; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
