Robert Dean “Bob” Chalfant, 78, of Elwood, KS died on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the Wathena Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial services will be 11:30 am on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Cochran officiating.The body has been cremated and burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Sumner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family maybe left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Robert was born on Jan. 18, 1940 in Atchison KS the son of Benjamin Marion and Dollie Mae (Garrison) Chalfant. Bob worked for over 30 years in Saunders/ Golden Star Manufacturing Company as manager of the plant. After retiring he owned and operated CNC, of Atchison which designed and manufacture mops. He later was a consultant for Scott-Young Research Company, and help set up a mop factory in Honduras and China. Mr. Chalfant had attended First Christian Church, was a NASCAR fan and played keyboard for “Fast Break Band for many years. He enjoyed playing music for the local nursing homes and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He was married to Lisa Servaes on March 28, 1995. Lisa survives of the home in Elwood. Additional survivors include a daughter, Cindy Ballinger, Atchison, KS, two sons, Terry (Kathy) Chalfant, Brighton, CO and Ryan (Tiffany) Chalfant, Elwood, KS, a step son, Jason (Paige) Mangelsdorf, Gower, MO, and a step-daughter, Abby (Bennie) Schroder, Union Star, MO, two brothers, Rev. William (Connie) Chalfant, Easton, KS, and Richard (Marsha) Chalfant, Atchison, KS, two sisters, Nadine Martin, and Norine (Chris) Wilderson, both of Atchison, KS, twelve grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. His parents, and one son, Steve Chalfant preceded him in death.
