Obituary for Beulah Mae "Boots" Bowen (Harden)

Beulah Mae “Boots” Bowen, 86, of Parkville, MO., formally of Huron, KS, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 in Kansas City, MO, after a lengthy battle with heart failure.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 27, 2019, at 2:00PM at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at Old Huron Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 2PM prior to services on Thursday at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home Chapel. Words of comfort for the family maybe left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Beulah was born on June 13, 1933 on the family farm near Old Huron, the daughter of Charles Garold and Wilma Lena (Miller) Harden. Boots mother passed away when she was sixteen months old. Her father later married her step-mother Violet (Stirton) Harden. Boots attended Old Huron grade school and graduated from Effingham High School in 1951. On June 3, 1951 Boots married Homer Roy Bowen. They were married for 57 years until Homer passed away on July 5, 2008. Boots founded her own home cleaning business in the mid-1960’s and continued to work at her business until about two years ago. Boots was a woman of faith and was a member of the Baptist church for over fifty years. She loved and nurtured her family every day of her life. Boots enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, embroidering and cooking for her family.

Boots is survived by her five children, sons Terry (Judy) Bowen, Smithville, MO., David (Kelly) Bowen, Kansas City, MO., Randy (Kim) Bowen Kearney, Mo., Chuck (Brenda) Bowen, Parkville, MO., daughter Patty (Danny) Humes, DeKalb, MO, brothers Charles (Mary) Harden, Mayetta, KS, Dean (Pam) Harden, Everest, KS, and Allen (Cindy) Harden, Lancaster, KS, a sister Donna (Gary) Hegwood, Lancaster, KS., fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great- grandchildren and two great –great- grandchildren. Boots is preceded into death by her parents, husband, Brothers William (Bill), Norman (Pat), Gary Harden, Sisters Goldie “June” Scholz, Joyce Smith and Barbara Jean Harden.
